Pride Month at Low Carbon – Celebrating diversity and supporting the LGBTQIA+ community
Written by: Karen McCormack, member of Low Carbon’s DEI Committee
Low Carbon is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace environment for all our staff. To ensure that everyone feels welcome and empowered to perform to the best of their abilities, we have established the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee. The Committee’s primary purpose is to oversee the creation and implementation of policies, practices, and initiatives aimed at promoting representation, addressing inequity, and supporting team members from diverse backgrounds and identities. In line with our purpose, we are proud to celebrate and support Pride Month, as part of our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community.
Following Low Carbon’s 2022 Employee Survey, the DEI Committee is focusing on three core areas for 2023:
• Celebration and Awareness
• Education
• Policy and Governance
Celebration and Awareness:
As a focus area of the DEI Committee, we aim to create a positive atmosphere and promote understanding among all our staff. Pride Month provides us with an excellent opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, both within Low Carbon and externally. By fostering an environment of acceptance, we believe that we can empower all employees to embrace their true selves and contribute their unique perspectives. Together, we can create lasting change and a more inclusive future for everyone.
At Low Carbon we continue to champion diversity, celebrate differences, and foster an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
