Climate change is now widely accepted as the largest long-term environmental problem facing humanity and its major cause is carbon dioxide emissions from energy use. Formed after the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, the Energy Saving Trust is at the forefront of tackling climate change in the UK, by promoting sustainable energy use in household and transport through the reduction of energy demand, improving energy efficiency and developing mass market renewable energy. It is a private, not for profit organisation funded by government and the private sector.
