PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE ROLE :
Due to increasing demand from our clients Enviros is seeking a Senior Consultant for our Dublin office. The purpose of the role is to provide support and focus for projects in the energy and carbon management sector. The Senior Consultant will play an active part in helping to further grow this establishing sector and enhance the carbon product potential of the marketplace.
The Senior Consultant will be responsible for delivering new business primarily in the carbon and energy sectors however projects will not be limited to these areas and will include waste and resource efficiency projects.
KEY PROJECTS /CLIENTS:
The current client portfolio is varied and the successful candidate will be required to work on a number of projects, covering both the public and private sectors. Project work will primarily focus on the ROI however they may also extend to projects in Northern Ireland and across the UK.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
• TECHNICAL : Delivering carbon and energy efficiency solutions to a variety of clients. Analyse and interpret energy and carbon data. Conducting energy audits and carbon data collection. Support the team in developing new business and writing proposals.
Offer and deliver technical solutions to meet the business and client expectations. Maintain and develop expertise and continue to increase technical breadth. Will act as a technical lead on a range of projects and proposals and communicate complex issues to colleagues and clients. Responsible for the technical work of less experienced consultants.
• PROJECT MANAGEMENT : Will manage projects including costs, performance and spend against budget, quality, deadlines, delivery of reports, presentations and other deliverables. Review the progress of the project on a regular basis and take responsibility for delivery to client needs. Resolve technical and financial queries through consultation with project managers and technical managers where appropriate. Devise or select the most appropriate method of project delivery by considering implications. Prioritise work, define and allocate tasks, regularly communicate and provide updates and direction by regularly meeting with the project team. Will Identify shortfalls and allocate employees to available work ensuring that tasks meet employee development needs.
• CLIENT CARE : Responsible for client care as required on projects (under instruction from the project director and manager) including communication of progress, complex issues and any financial arrangements. Ensure projects delivered are meeting the client’s needs.
• COMMERCIAL : Support the Commercial Director to further develop the energy market in the Republic of Ireland, providing technical and business development support as necessary. Increase Enviros` visibility and promote its reputation in the carbon/energy area specifically in the ROI .
• TEAM WORKING : Encourage and motivate the team by supporting the Consulting Group Manager at team meetings. Support the Consulting Group Manager by clearly communicating progress, employee performance targets and the necessary actions required. Demonstrates commitment to the team by displaying a personal commitment and positive attitude at all times and acts as an ambassador for teamwork.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS :
• Applicants are likely to be educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject. (i.e.science subjects, geography, engineering etc); and
• This will preferably be complimented with an MSc (or equivalent) although this is not a pre-requisite.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS :
• Applicants will preferably be currently operating as a consultant, although candidates from a process or building design engineering background who think they can adapt their knowledge to a consultancy environment will be considered.
• Recent MSc graduates from a relevant course would also be considered.
• Some relevant experience of energy management, either in an industrial or commercial environment, is required. This may be in the following areas; energy management, carbon management, climate change policy.
• A good understanding of climate change issues and the mitigation measures that businesses can implement to reducing energy use and carbon emissions.
• Economic and carbon policy/regulation experience desirable.
• A sound technical background in the energy and carbon management sector, this will ideally be complimented with knowledge and experience in other technical areas including waste and resource efficiency.
• A good level of climate/carbon policy and regulation required.
• Project management skills, with the ability to work to budget and deadlines;
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Project management experience.
• A team player.
• Highly motivated.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT :
The energy and carbon management sector is a key growth area in the Scotland & Ireland region. Prospects are good in terms of variety of work and the opportunity to progress. Candidates will be encouraged to become involved in commercial development with support from Commercial Directors in Ireland and Scotland.
